Senior Accountant

A global commodity merchanting house is seeking a senior accounting professional to assist in the supervision of the Accounting Department and lead the financial reporting process. The individual will be responsible for coordinating the internal and external audits, and ensuring compliance with IFRS and US GAAP as required. Ideal candidate will be a CPA and have strong people/management skills, experience with both IFRS and US GAAP, and commodity experience.
Responsibilities:
Prepare Consolidated Financial statements under US GAAP and IFRS
Formulate and administer monthly financial close and reporting process
Co-manage (with the Controller) the Accounting Department, as well as develop/review Accounting staff members to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner and that appropriate resources and staff are available for driving process change to improve efficiencies in overall accounting/business processes
Research and analyze accounting matters under both US GAAP and IFRS; work with local accounting managers in international and regional offices to ensure all reporting is timely, accurate and in compliance with GAAP
Act as annual external audit liaison and oversee/manage all interactions with external accounting firms
Develop, implement, upgrade and maintain appropriate internal financial systems, controls and safeguards, and provide training to functional departments on internal control activities to ensure a strong internal control environment
Attend due diligence meetings with potential investors and provide acquisition analysis and acquisition integration as required
Coordinate with the VP of Tax on tax/accounting compliance matters and work closely with the internal Legal Department as well as with outside legal counsel as necessary
Special projects and other administrative functions as required
Requirements:
At least 7-10 years public accounting experience
US GAAP/IFRS experience required
Must have CPA or equivalent
Experience managing teams of people / staff
Strong organizational, communication and presentation skills
Proven leadership ability, dedication, and commitment
French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, or other foreign language a plus

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
