Summary:
The Diet Tech is responsible to consult with the Registered Dietitian to ensure implementation of the best standard of nutrition and dietary services. The Diet Tech is responsible for implementing the dietary component within the program. Responsibilities include dietary support, grocery budget allocation, client menu planning, maintaining a clean and well stocked kitchen, cooking and baking as recommended, and appropriately discerning between appropriate and inappropriate client eating behaviors.
Responsibilities:
Maintains a well stocked kitchen through grocery purchases, upholding proper sanitation requirements that are in compliance with Department of Health, Joint Commission Accreditation standards.
Analyze food service providers to ensure quality products at cost effective prices.
Purchase all grocery items for facility, considering variety, special diets, and food safety
Prepare dinner daily, monitoring client consumption of appropriate exchange pattern
Cook and bake with clients as therapeutically recommended by Dietitian
Participate in fun food challenge and restaurant experiential weekly
Enforce dietary program and advise clients appropriately on food choices
Conducts client calorie counts weekly
Rotate Emergency Food Supply quarterly
Education:
The Diet Tech must be pursuing a career in the field of Nutrition, through an Accredited Undergraduate Program in Nutrition or Diet Tech Certification Program. Must also have the ability to provide documentation or obtain a state required food handlers permit, or Serve Safe Certification, upon hire.
Experience:
The Diet Tech must have experience in dietary education and management;
Experience in implementation of dietary exchange pattern preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
Must have a thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietary interventions in the mental health field; able to communicate with persons from all educational and cultural backgrounds; have strong written and verbal communication skills; must demonstrate tact, initiative, resourcefulness, professional manner, enthusiasm, and a non-judgmental attitude. The Diet Tech must be self-motivated and creative as well as possess strong management skills.
Must have a sound knowledge of motivational interviewing
Able to demonstrate understanding of the medical consequences of eating disorders, the hazards of re-feeding and how to avoid complications.
Able to implement an individualized menu plan for each of the different types of eating disorders.
Must have the ability to implement specific dietary exchange patterns through knowledge of portion size and caloric recommendations set by the Dietitian.
Must have the ability to maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively to all staff in implementing the dietary program.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
